Digital Preservation Policy

The University of San Martin de Porres provides the following regarding the preservation of digitized archives:

Technological Infrastructure

The University of San Martin de Porres has Cloud infrastructure where it hosts the Web content of the OJS service for its academic journals. The university uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, where it maintains the registry of domains and subdomains that support academic journals. This infrastructure includes load balancing servers (proxy), application servers, and database servers, as well as DNS service, AWS Route 53.

Server Spaces

The academic journal service is hosted on an application server in AWS, which is monitored by USMP infrastructure personnel who control server resources when it comes to disk storage space.

Hardware Updates

These are performed when new equipment is available in the cloud, being a quick change without delays. Hardware improvements allow for better performance in application support and new versions of the OJS service.

Software Updates

These are carried out based on new versions of the OJS service, where the USMP infrastructure team is responsible for coordinating activities to make a system change without affecting service delivery.

Infrastructure Maintenance

These correspond to activities by the infrastructure area, which carry out maintenance on the virtual platforms that support applications such as OJS. Backups and restorations are also performed to maintain OJS information backup, which are stored in the AWS cloud.

Personnel Responsible

USMP has permanent personnel for the support of applications and technological infrastructure where academic journals are hosted. This same personnel manage the infrastructure to provide high service availability.

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS

Additionally, Vox Juris uses digital preservation services such as CLOCKSS and LOCKSS
