CONTRIBUTIONS FROM BIOLOGY TO EXPLAIN SEXUAL OFFENSES
Abstract
This article seeks to explore the influence of biology on human behavior, particularly in decision making and the commission of sexual offenses. It investigates whether sexual abuse would persist without punishment and whether biology can provide insights into criminal behavior. The recognition of these aspects in justice systems is evaluated, considering the debate between Law and Neuroscience. Furthermore, it analyzes, from sociocultural and biological perspectives, the elements explaining sexual crimes, including theories that prioritize biology over culture, and examines chemical castration and its implications. Finally, it presents four biological elements that could be key in the commission of sexual offenses.
