Abstract

This research work addresses the documentary titled “Depp vs. Heard” which deals with the judicial process followed by Johnny Depp against Amber Heard, which was widely covered by the media. The work seeks to analyze, from media and visual criminology and the study of parallel trials, whether the violent behaviors discussed in the process, with regard to Mr. Depp, were subject to decriminalization (minimalization) given that the media They focused mainly on Mrs. Heard, going so far as to stigmatize her in a derogatory way.

As a result of the analysis carried out, it was concluded that the media contributed to society “leaving aside” the acts of violence displayed by Mr. Johnny Depp against Amber Heard, which is why it is also determined that the media has an influence on the perception that society has about judicial matters.
