DE FACTO UNION: THE NEED TO PROVIDE LEGAL PROTECTION TO SAME SEX UNIONS TO AVOID THE VIOLATION OF THEIR PROPERTY, HOUSING, INHERITANCE, SOCIAL SECURITY, AND WIDOWHOOD PENSION RIGHTS; IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LIMA, YEAR 2023
Abstract
Chapter I provides a detailed description of the problematic reality faced by same-sex couples regarding the lack of legal recognition of their de facto unions. Throughout history, homosexuality has been subjected to discrimination and punishment in many parts of the world, including Europe and Latin America. Although there have been advances in the acceptance and recognition of the rights of same-sex couples, legal and social challenges still persist. In many countries, homosexuality remains criminalized, and same-sex couples face legal obstacles to accessing basic rights such as property, inheritance, and social security. This chapter raises important questions about the need for legal reforms to ensure the protection of the rights of same-sex couples in the department of Lima.
