Abstract
The Valle de los ríos Apurímac, Ene y Mantaro (VRAEM) in Peru has emerged as a hub of drug trafficking, profoundly influencing Peruvian politics. This phenomenon has fostered corruption, violence, and insecurity in the region, challenging the state's response. The research aims to understand the impact of drug trafficking on Peruvian politics from 1980 to the present, focusing on legislation and government policies. Specific objectives include analyzing drug marketing and consumption in the VRAEM, as well as examining political decision-making in this context.
