Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate whether it is convenient to implement a mechanism where civilians can actively participate in performing low-risk police or, alternatively, administrative functions, so that trained officers can dedicate more time to public safety. Conversely, it may be an inappropriate measure with expected poor results, considering that every policy incurs a cost. It is also essential to assess its economic relevance. Given the current social situation (kidnappings, robberies, assassinations, extortions, etc.), finding effective mechanisms to address the issue of crime and, likewise, achieve a reduction in the perception of insecurity is crucial. Bibliographic research and quantitative analysis are the methodologies employed in this study.
