Motivibes: A Platform for Emotional Self-Regulation

Authors

Abstract

Motivibes is an educational platform designed to promote students’ emotional self-regulation through the RRDA methodology (Recognize, Regulate, Determine, Advertise value judgments). The tool incorporates gamification, awarding badges for each completed process, which encourages active student participation. Emotional self-regulation was evaluated using the Baron Test, which measures intrapersonal, interpersonal, stress management, adaptability, general mood, positive impression, and emotional awareness dimensions. A pre-test and post-test were conducted in two locations: at the  campus in Lima, students increased from 49.45% to 50.55%, representing a 1.10% improvement over three months; at the campus in Arequipa, students achieved a 9.93% increase (from 70.77% to 80.70%) after four months of use. The results demonstrate that the platform significantly contributed to the development of emotional self-regulation, enabling students to apply strategies proposed by the tool and share experiences in forums, thereby strengthening reflection on their emotions. Additionally, students valued features such as motivational conferences, support chat, and informational resources on where to seek help in case of difficulties, facilitating risk prevention and timely referral to the school psychology department. In conclusion, Motivibes proved to be an effective and flexible tool, integrating technology and socio-emotional learning to improve emotional well-being, personal management skills, the development of the “Build Your Identity” competence, and students’ social skills.
