Relación entre la microbiota oral, higiene bucal y caries dental en niños con diabetes mellitus

Resumen

La diabetes mellitus (DM) es un problema de salud cada vez mayor, en total 463 000 000 de personas en el mundo la padecen. Se espera que esta cifra alcance los 578 000 000 para el 2030. El objetivo es realizar una revisión narrativa y determinar la relación entre la microbiota oral, higiene bucal y caries dental en niños con diabetes mellitus. Para la revisión narrativa se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica para seleccionar información académicamente certificada de artículos extraídos de la base de datos Scopus. La muestra incluyó 50 artículos organizados en el programa Atlas.ti. Los niños con DM tienen más probabilidades de padecer problemas dentales como la caries dental, esto puede estar influenciado por una fuerte actividad bacteriana y hábitos de higiene bucal no adecuados.
