Peer Review Process

  1. Initial evaluation by the Editorial Committee

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the Editorial Committee to verify compliance with the Instructions for Authors, the aims and scope of the journal, good research ethics practices, as well as their scientific contribution and academic relevance.

If the manuscript meets these criteria, it is subjected to a similarity check using Turnitin software. Manuscripts with a similarity index of 20% or less proceed in the editorial process; otherwise, they are returned to the authors for revision. Once these stages are successfully completed, the manuscript enters the peer review process.

  1. Peer review

Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation are submitted to a peer review process conducted by academic reviewers who are specialists in the subject matter, both national and international, external to the publishing institution, and with proven prior scientific publications.

The review process is conducted under a single-blind peer review model, whereby the authors are not informed of the reviewers’ identities. Reviewers participate on an ad honorem basis. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two reviewers; in cases of substantial disagreement between reviewers, the opinion of a deciding arbitrator will be requested.

  1. Review outcomes

Reviewers may issue one of the following decisions:

  1. a) Accepted for publication without modifications.
  2. b) Accepted for publication with minor revisions.
  3. c) Publishable with major revisions, which must be addressed by the authors.
  4. d) Not recommended for publication.

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editorial Committee will make the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of the manuscript. Manuscripts requiring revisions will be returned to the authors to address the reviewers’ comments. Manuscripts that are not approved will be formally rejected and returned to the authors.

  1. Submission of revised manuscripts

Authors have a maximum period of two weeks to resubmit the revised manuscript to the Editorial Committee. Once the corrections have been verified, the manuscript will be forwarded for copyediting, translation, layout design, and final publication.

If no response is received within the established deadline, a reminder will be sent to the authors. If no response is received within 45 days, the manuscript will be withdrawn from publication in that issue.

  1. Publication process

Only manuscripts that have been formally approved by the Editorial Committee will proceed to the publication stage.

  1. 6. Publication timeline

The estimated time for article publication ranges from two to five months, from submission to final publication.

  1. Galley proof

Prior to uploading the formatted article to the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, a galley proof will be sent to the corresponding author for final review and approval.

  1. Authorship

Once a manuscript has been submitted, no changes to the list of authors will be accepted during the editorial process.
